Uber is teaming up with HBO Now to bring Game of Thrones' most coveted real estate to fans in New York. There are two options for those partaking in #RideOfThrones, which is available Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Riders selecting the Throne option will have a truck carting a replica of the throne delivered for a photo op. Sorry — there's no cruising around New York on it. Riders can also select a pedicab ride, which is limited to 30 minutes in Manhattan between 14th Street and 59th Street.
Both options are free, and Uber says it'll arrive in minutes. The Hollywood Reporter borrowed an intern from sister publication Billboard to test out process. Competition was nearly as stiff for the Iron Throne in the app as in real life. During an hour of waiting, no Throne ride popped up as an option (they were all busy), but after about 30 minutes a pedicab option appeared and was quickly selected. The driver Josh, was a retired physics teacher said it had been "non-stop all day." He and the other drivers met at 9:30 a.m. for a big photoshoot, and beginning at 11:00 he'd been fielding calls. A lot of fans liked to be driven through Manhattan while humming the Game of Thrones theme.
