Opening Reception: Wednesday, January 27, 5 ⎼ 7 p.m. Fundraising Party and Silent Auction: Sunday, February 28, 2016, 5 ⎼ 7:30 p.m. Christin Couture & William Hosie Amanda Herman & Hannah Ray Lynn Peterfreund & Sally Clegg Joe Saphire & Kyle Thorne Chloe So & Shawn Wang Erika Zekos & Derek Noble To mark the final celebration of its 40th Anniversary year, the University Museum of Contemporary Art has invited 40 artists and designers to creatively embellish 40 unadorned wooden chairs, donated to us by the Lexington Group of West Springfield. The participating artists have painted, decorated, cut, drilled, and otherwise improvised on four legs and a seat — a riff on the idea of a chair! celebrates the wide‐ranging talent and creativity of Valley artists and designers. The exhibition is open to the public from January 28 through February 28, 2016. We will start the exhibition with a reception on Wednesday, January 27, 5 – 7 p.m., and conclude with a fundraising party — cocktail reception, live music, and Silent Auction of the Chairs — on Sunday, February 28, 5 ⎼ 7:30 p.m.

The artists will be present. Money raised at the auction will support the University Museum of Contemporary Art. More than 500 friends of Big Brothers Big Sisters celebrated the power of mentoring at Pitch In for Kids held Thursday, February 23, at JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa. Thanks to guests and generous donors, the event raised almost $200,000! was a game for the ages with a lineup that included Honorary Chair Bob Brenly, Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone, and our All Star match Sam Leyvas and Skyler, and Skyler's mom Kelly. Guests warmed up for the evening ... Match Story: Joey & His Mom Honor David's Memory Joey was a withdrawn 14-year-old boy dealing with some serious issues who needed a friend. He met David who not only changed his life, but also reassured Joey's mom Alletta that he'd be there for Joey. And then the unimaginable happened. Joey and Alletta shared their moving, inspirational story which beautifully illustrates the bond between a Little and a Big, and shows how that relationship impacts families and our community.
