These Wheelchairs require a physically abled person and a full size car to transport them. Quality self-propelled wheelchairs may have the following options - aluminium frame; fold down back rest; quick release wheels and are highly transportable. Also available in super light weight. Like taxis - you can always fit a fold away slide carpet that will assist in accessing the wheelchair from the boot of your car.

Lovedays suggests (frequent use grade super light) an aluminium chair, with solid wheels & fold down back rest. Hard plastic tyres increase transportation shock thus resulting in a poor ride. Solid tyres with some give in the tread allow for a more enjoyable ride.  These are low maintence options. Inflatable tyres are best when fully inflated and are hardest to push when there is insufficient pressure. Overall these tyres can provide the most comfort however, they are exposed to maintance issues such as punctures. Plastic, wire, mag- all similar weight and strength in a basic wheelchair. Option- self-explanatory- safety for confidence, posture or other disability difficulties. Adjustable height to create the optimum leg position. The more comfortable chairs have woven nylon back and base, with some cushioning (12-15 mm), and a back with a sectional rear tilt thus not totally upright. A plastic style seat material is available however, premium chairs also have speciality fabrics available.
