Over time, the color scheme lost its luster when the metal started to discolor and the vinyl became spotted with age. Researching how I might refurbish the patio furniture, I was stunned  to see my exact patio furniture mentioned by name on the Patio  FurnitureNot only that, there was a VIDEO on how to replace vinyl straps on a  Woodard Ionian chair -- an exact duplicate of the chairs in Here's how my husband and I tackled the project: Step 1:  MEASURE AND ORDER STRAPS. Presuming you will be ordering pre- cut straps, it's best to determine the length of your new straps

BEFORE removing the existing ones.  (This presumes your existing  straps are not sagging, but taut.)  Use a fabric tape measure to  determine the actual length that the vinyl straps must accommodate --  including the portions that wrap around the J-Clip.  Per instructions  on the web site, you multiply this measurement  by .85 and round up to the nearest 1/4 inch to determine the CUT  LENGTH of the(The color we used is "Holly".) Remove (cut off) the existing vinyl straps and  save the "J-clips" in aIf you lose some, you can get  them from Step 3:  PAINT the metal frames, ifWe used oil-based  Rustoleum in black; applied it with aStep 4:  AFFIX THE NEW STRAPS.   We suggest using the TWO PERSON / TWO  POT METHOD, described below. TWO PERSON / TWO POT METHOD SETUP:  Boil water in two large pots, then reduce heat to justIn each pot, place about 8 straps. Take one pot to your work area while the other one stays on the  burner (just below boiling

Person 1 -- the stronger one -- should wear rubber gloves. METHOD: Using tongs, Person 1 removes a hot strap from the pot, (the cuter one) gets two J-clips in place on the frame. J-Clip ON THE FRAME (held in place with one finger of  Person 2 as needed), Person 1 places one end of the strap on the point  of the J-clip, then loops the strap around the frame and stretches the  strap across the frame to the opposing J-Clip. Person 2 is in charge of keeping the opposing  J-Clip in place with  one hand (under the frame) while the other hand guides the opposing  end of the stretched strap through the frame opening, and pushes the  strap-hole over the point of(I wish we had a third person to take a video). Repeat until you are out of straps in this pot, Take the pot back to the burner, put 8 more straps in it, turn up the  heat a little, and bring out the other pot, and repeat "THE METHOD" HELPFUL TIP:  There are some tight spots on the frame that don't

allow  much room for maneuvering, e.g. adjacent to arm rests, and some curves  that can make things tricky in terms of J-Clips sliding around. After  struggling with these tricky spots on one chair, we learned to place  the hot straps in "easier" locations first, and then slide them into  place (around curves or in the tight spots adjacent to the arm We couldn't be happier with the results of this project.  Dennis at Patio Furniture Rehab for his support and encouragement.
