It is rare to find a fine dining restaurant that caters so well towards kids but Papi Chulo certainly does.

From the gorgeous vintage high chair to the broad kids menu that doubles as a colouring in page, Olivia was well looked after so hubby and I could actually enjoy our meal. We started with some pea gucamole with the most delicious tortilla chips. For Olivia we ordered the cheese quesadilla but as she is currently conducting an experiment on whether a child can exist on carbs (i.e. potato chips) and carbs alone, the quesadilla was left for me to eat. The kids menu also gives the option of swapping the chips for peas, carrots and potato. I have a big issue with all the fried food that appears on kids menus so it is so refreshing to see a healthier option. If only my child would eat it… The kids meals are priced at $12 and are a really generous serve. Now the fun part, the adults food! It was hard to choose but we settled on the Ranger’s Valley Wagyu brisket and jumbo king prawns, lemongrass and coconut dressing with sides of Vietnamese coleslaw and curly fries (because fries!).

The prawns deserve a picture of their own. Just the right amount of bite without overpowering the delicious prawn flavour.I ate way too much food but it was all sooo good. Main meals range in price from $23-$38 so it isn’t a cheap option but if you are looking for really great food, a fun atmosphere and are happy to pay a bit extra then this is a fabulous venue. Moving on from the food, Papi Chulo is nestled into Manly Wharf so you have a view over the water. The decor in the restaurant is beautiful and there was a mix of groups, couples and families when we were there. There isn’t heaps of room for prams but the staff are really accommodating if you do need to bring one.
