This converted school building and residence of internationally renowned Interior Designer, Kelly Hoppen (the queen of Zen inspired, modern interiors) features a drop dead gorgeous Bubble Chair suspended from the rafters. More art piece than chair. The inside of the chair is padded with soft cushions while the outside is covered with a structure of 8000 cable-ties. Basalt is one of the most renewable resources has an extremely quick renewing capacity. Thus being an almost limitless resource, basalt will likely be used more in furniture production in the future.

The Nest Rest by Dedon is more bird nest than hanging chair but I couldn’t resist including it in my favorites list.  It’s big enough to share with your friends – who wouldn’t want one of these at a Summer party?
