Earlier in the day, footage of a group of Perth blokes casually drinking beer while driving two motorised picnic tables down the West Coast Highway went viral on social media.

Bewildered drivers and passers-by in the area filmed the men turning right at a set of lights before driving down a pathway. But the driver, who also built the table, said he and his friends only crossed the busy highway to fill their tables up at the petrol station. He said two police officers approached the group while they were there. "We complied with everything they said," he said. "They told the boys that were drinking to tip their liquor out and get rid of it which we did and they said we're not allowed to drive [the picnic tables] on the road and just to push them back across the other side of the road and then we can carry on from there." He said himself and the other driver were sober at the time. Footage shows the men, who took the Aussie phrase "having a roadie" to a whole new level, were all smiles as they drove past confused patrons at a cafe, one offering a thumbs-up. One woman asked if they had been kicked off the road to which one of the men replied, "we're allowed on the footpath but not the road apparently according to the cops."

Several videos of the motorised picnic tables were posted on Facebook on Sunday.
