Ideally two parents in the master bedroom and up till four kids in the two children bedrooms, but all kids beds are adult size so we have had four adults with their three kids as well. When entering the home, you are immediately immersed into an area of natural light; the right-hand wall full of windows, back and side large glass double doors entering the garden and patios, and a large sky light beaming through the centre of the home onto the large family dining table. The main kitchen area resides at the entrance of the house as well, allowing you to gaze upon the entire main floor and back garden while cooking a delicious meal. A separate side kitchen can be found through a door on the opposite side as the entrance, where laundry facilities, a freezer, oven, and additional refrigerator can be found. The living room area is truly a place of tranquility and relaxation. This large open space contains a large sectional sofa, wicker chair, television and old-fashioned wood-burning fireplace.

This area is ideal for accommodation of any kind; playing games, watching movies, enjoying a night by fire, or relaxing with a book - to name a few. The rear doors off of the living area lead you to the back garden. Here you can find a large patio table and chairs on the deck, overlooking the beautiful gardens, boathouse, and country fields. In the back left corner, there is an additional table with benches along with a small fire pit for campfires. Running along the back of the property is a beautiful stream. In summer you can watch as various boats such as kayaks, canoes, and small motor boats drift through. In winter, ice takes occupancy, allowing for large numbers of local residents to take a leisurely skate through the tranquil and stunning countryside. Through the double doors located off of the playroom is a side patio that also leads onto the back garden. Here you can find both a large table and chairs in addition to a large patio sofa and portable barbecue. The trees and shrubbery outlining this outdoor living room provides privacy to this comfortable nook.

Marken is also a lovely little fisherman town which is a beautiful 20 minutes bike ride. This town is more built for tourists, demonstration traditional dutch culture. Volendam is the furthest bike ride away, (approx. 25-30 minutes) but can also be reached by bus or car. We loooove good dining and will tell you about the hidden best places to eat in the area! Our lovely small town is very quiet, has plenty of places to walk, hike, cycle and swim. Our town is 2 km from the bus stop to Amsterdam (15 minute drive to Central Station) and other towns. It is recommendable to have a car when staying here or alternatively use our two bikes to go the bus stop. Also there is a bus stop in front of the house which will take you to Amsterdam. You need to know that in our village there are no shops. Closest shops are 2 km in Broek in Waterland or Monnickendam. You can park you car in front of the house, or alternatively cycle to the bus stop at 2 km which will take you in 15 minutes to the city center. - Please take shoes off inside the house. Our floors are new and we would like to keep them in good shape as long as possible.
