The staff were friendly, and if you ask around you can find a few that speak really good english, especially the info desk downstairs they helped us out alot, gave us extra more detailed maps, tourist places to go etc. we went back to the hotel room and looked at them , circled the places we wanted to go, and the staff was nice enough to actually show us a plan on how to get to each place :) we had a mt fuji tour planned and we just told them about it the day before we were leaving and they made sure the bus was picking us up the next day.

Also they wrote a few things in japanese to give to the attendant at the jr bus station as they only speak japanese there to get the right ticket to go back to osaka. They also rang up a few of the places we wanted to go to see what time they close. They were super friendly, if you talk to them respectfully they will be more willing to help. We gave them a present for them before they left as a thank you to the info desk as well. The rooms are small, but most rooms are in japan, but was always clean & tidy. We had dinner at the restaurant upstairs, manhattan table restaurant and was delighted with the view. The meals were small, like most fine dining but there was about 5 meals and we were so full after!!! the view was beautiful, cos you are in on basically top floor, overlooking the middle of the street with buildings on each side.
