Is an Aeron chair worth it? November 17, 2005   Subscribe November 17, 2005   Subscribe How much would you pay for an Aeron chair? Most Popular Office Chair: Herman Miller Aeron Most of us spend hours each day sitting in our office chairs, either working or playing in front of a computer. We've discussed how important it is to spend your money where you spend your time, so we asked you which office chairs were the best of breed, both for price and for health-saving, comfort-packing features. You responded, we took at look at the five best office chairs, and put them to an all out vote. Now we're back to highlight the winner. The iconic Herman Miller Aeron chair took the top spot and brought home close to 42% of the overall vote. Its high retail price didn't deter many of you from praising its incredible comfort and customization options, and since it's been in circulation for so long, many of you also noted that Aeron chairs are out there are rock bottom prices from discount office supply stores, closing offices, or from people looking to sell their used ones.
Hot on the Aeron's heels in second place is the affordable-but-comfy IKEA Markus, which brought in close to 28% of the votes cast. In third place was Herman Miller's next generation ergonomic office chair, the Herman Miller Embody, with close to 14% of the vote. In fourth with close to 10% was the Steelcase Leap, and bringing up the rear in fifth was the Raynor Ergohuman with just under 7% of the vote. However, a lot of other, less well-known companies are very good, and about as good as Herman Miller: if you google them up, you will find lots of suitable alternatives (also consider local shopping or e-shopping). For instance, there seems to be a lot of positive feedbacks online about the Alera Elusion series of chairs, which is substantially less than the Aeron. Herman Miller makes other fine chairs too, which are priced less than the Aeron - the Sayl, for instance, is half the price of an Aeron.
Given the amazing warranty, it could be possible also to buy a second-hand Aeron for a decent amount of money, and keep it for many years after the warranty has expired.baby pushchairs uk sale EDIT: Thank you all for your views!table and chair field shelter As a note, if you are interested in this field, I write mostly about design and furniture - so check out my other answers and/or follow me.glider chair best buy And an upvote is always welcome!cape cod chairs outdoor furniture There are plenty of office chairs to choose from, and like you mentioned, one of the most popular out there are the Herman Miller and Steelcase chairs. chair with ottoman houzz
What gets most people is the design of the chairs. ikea desk chair on wheelsYes they have a lot of ergonomic adjustments, but the way its designed is a big part of what you're paying for. For many people, these chairs are out of reach because of price. There are plenty of options out there aside from these chairs that have the same ergonomic functionality, they just don't look as fancy. If design isn't at the top of the list for you in order to buy a chair, then there are plenty of options to consider. Whats most important for those that sit in their office chair for long periods of time is the ergonomic adjustments and comfortability. With comfort being subjective, that is different for everyone. I'm biased working for a furniture company, but I recommend checking out our CXO mesh chair , executive chair by Concept , or the Ergohuman by Eurotech . Each have just about every ergonomic adjustment you'd be looking for in an office chair.
The Herman Miller Aeron chairs are definitely worth it if your budget allows, however most of us simply cannot afford the price tag that comes along with it. As many other respondents answered here, the Alera Elusion is what I consider the cheaper alternative. Now, it’s no Aeron, but for about $140 or so, it’s very competitive. It’s still very comfortable and still looks great.LITTLETON, Colo. -- Sarah Keepers and James Hull use weekends to visit garage and yard sales for  "Shabby Chic," the re-sale business they run. Just over a year ago, they found an old wooden chair with an unusual design. So they decided to buy the plywood chair for $5. It turns out to be a fantastic investment of five bucks, since the chair, which James used to play video games and then put in the garage to collect dust for almost a year, is an original Herman Miller, made in western Michigan in 1946. “We just liked the chair because it had a unique look and seemed to have character,” said Sarah.
“I was about to donate the chair to the Goodwill, but something told me to check out the silver decal label underneath the chair. When I did, it had the designer’s name…Charles and Rae Eams and the Herman Miller brand name right there for all to see.” We contacted the Herman Miller outlet in LoDo, where Carie Mueller showed us pictures of the Plywood Chair, which is what it was called when it went into the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art, as soon as it was produced. “The Eams were the first inventors to come up with a system to heat and bend plywood into unique shapes and designs,” said Mueller. “They began their work with the U.S. Navy who needed a lightweight, leg cast and with metal in short supply following World War II, using plywood did the trick. What they learned making the cast, helped them come up with the Plywood Chair.” The couple has contacted the Herman Miller Museum. Herman Miller never worked for the furniture company.
