Columbian Hammocks – Our smallest hammock measures 300 cm and needs a hanging space or 270 cm to 290 cm.

The hooks should be at least 120 cm from the ground. Our biggest hammocks measures 400 cm and need at 360 cm to 390 cm to hang correctly. The minimum hanging height should be about 160 cm. With the help of our Hanging Sets (suspension sets) you can extend the hanging length of your hammock to 4 m (so that a 300 cm hammock can be hung in a space of 7 meter). Just consider that the greater the length of the space, the higher you will need to place your hammock. North-American Style Hammock – North American Style hammocks have a length of approximately 400 cm and need a minimum space of 390 cm. When out of the box, hammocks tend to be a little smaller, as they need to be stretched to arrive at their optimal length. So, put your hammock up and sit in it for a while. Reattach the hammock a little tighter and repeat until your hammock has reached its desired/necessary length. The hooks should be about 120 cm from the ground and should be higher, if your space is less than 390 cm.

Our cotton hammocks are of high quality and very robust. Based on the properties of cotton fabrics, they should not be left outdoors for longer periods of time, though. Some of our hammocks are made of weatherproof polypropylene, which prevents the formation of mildew. But even those hammocks should not be left outdoors for longer stretches of time. So if they are not used, you should take them down and store them inside. If used and stored appropriately, our hammocks can last a lifetime. Hammocks of inferior quality will have a shorter life span due to wear of the suspension ropes. Yes, you may wash your hammock by hand and with a mild detergent. Washing it in the machine is not recommended, as colors or suspension ropes might be damaged in the process. Depending on the model, the maximum load is 120 kg - 200 kg. Usually our hammocks do not need repairs. Should the need arise, though, we recommend asking a tailor for help. Will the colors of the hammock bleed on my clothes?

No, the colors will not rub off. Just to be on the safe side, though, we recommend not using your hammock while it is wet. Should I choose a model with or without spreader bars? Preference of one or the other is solely a matter of taste. A hammock without spreader bars cradles your body, creating a little island of relaxation. This kind of hammock also provides more stability and is perfectly suitable for children and senior citizens. A hammock with spreader bars on the other hand provides a better view of the surroundings and enables you to remain in touch with others, as your body is not cradled in the fabric. Getting in and out of the hammock needs to be done carefully, though. Our hammock chairs require a hanging height of at least 215 cm – 245 cm. Together with a suspension set for hammock chairs you can hang a hammock chair with a maximum hanging height of 315 cm. Please note that you will need a suspension system in any case and that it is not included in the package that your hammock chairs comes in.
