comfy chairs for bedroom ikea

the ikea poang chair. surprisingly one of the most comfortable chairs you may ever sit in. i know it looks otherwise, but trust me on this one, its comfy! so a little back story on our poang chair… it was 2010 and we were living in the apartment. there was virtually no room for furniture but we desperately needed more seating. the futon was not cutting it. and the search began. our ideal chair was something that would be affordable, comfortable and compact. after much searching, the poang chair proved to be all of those things. the poang chair is basically everyone’s first apartment furniture necessity and it was about to become mine. fact: ikea has been selling the poang chair since 1977. clearly it is not going out of style anytime soon. its a classic, in that weird ikea kinda way. now lets fast forward to 2015. 5 years, 2 cats & 1 move later the poang chair is still serving its purpose and it even has a spot in our new living room.

the secret is that no one is allowed to sit on it. that’s actually the opposite, this chair sees more use than any other seat in our house!
wood chair legs home depotthe real secret to keeping the white fabric, white is its removable and washable cover.
cost to refinish kitchen table and chairs over the past 5 years its only been needed to be removed and washed 3 times.
buy rattan dining chairsthe first time it got thrown in the wash was because of a little mishap i had with a big ‘ol cup of coffee.
arm chairs for sale yorka little oxy clean and the coffee came right out! there was also this time where i had a mishap with some red wine (specifically merlot).

again, just a little oxy and it was good to go. its super comfy – before buying the poang we were definitely skeptical about how well it would sit and how comfortable it would be. but we were pleasantly surprised when we tested the floor model our at ikea store. its nice and springy and reclines back a little when you plop down in it. the curve of the back of the chair really fits the shape of your back well. and its nice and wide too, with enough room to spread out a little. its a quality piece – i love me some ikea, but truthfully you don’t always know what you’re going to get when it comes to the quality of the product. in this case though, i’m so happy with the quality. i can say that after 5 years of heavy use, our chair shows very little sign of wear. and i’m sure it will stand the test of time! its so versatile – the neutral colors of this chair have made it a breeze to blend with the other furniture in our home and allows me to accessorize it with different pillows and blankets.

its also smaller than the average armchair so its able to fit in a small space which was a huge plus for our 400 sq ft apartment and our new tiny-ish living room. and because its not an upholstered chair it has a lighter look so i’m not weighing the room down with heavy clunky looking chair. its a husband stealer – brit used to snuggle up on the couch with me and now its near impossible to get him out of the poang chair! have a lint roller handy – my cats have fairly dark hair, so when they decide to take a snooze on the chair or steal brit’s seat when he gets up to get snack in the kitchen i’ve got be right there with the lint roller. the light color of the cover really does show cat hair. of course this can be avoided if you choose a different cover color. tricky cushion cover – after the coffee and wine incidents, stuffing the cushions back into the cover proved to be a little tricky. the first time i washed the cover i had to bring in brit to lend a hand because my frustration was getting the best of me.

after the second wash i managed all by myself, but it definitely looked a little misshaped. but after a little use the inside foam seemed to settle back into the cover. this most recent wash however, i’ve managed to master the re-stuffing technique! so, there you have it! all the ins and outs of the poang chair. i guess its pretty clear how i feel about the poang considering all the pros i was able to come up with! any questions you have that i didn’t answer? throw ’em at me! scroll down for this corner of my living room source list. one of these days i will get around to putting together a complete living room tour and then maybe even a house tour! but for now you just get the corner of my living room. 1. ikea poang chair // 2. floor lamp // 3. linen pillow cover // 4. gold ikat pillow cover (similar) // 5. area rug (similar) // 6. side table // 8. incense holder (similar) // 9.
