Tell us a little about your company! Classic Party Rentals of Virginia is central Virginia’s party rentals resource. Tables, tents, chairs, china, flatware, stemware, dance flooring, the state’s largest selection of linens and so much more. We have it all! How did you get started in this business? I got my start in the hospitality industry in the early ’80’s. From country clubs and hotels, I worked with many clients on their rentals. I naturally fell into the rental side in 2010 and have been here since. What’s your favorite wedding story? Hmmmm, there are so many. I think all of them involve a sneak peak into a ballroom or tent with my bride and groom allowing them to see everything before their guests. It always makes me smile to see their individual reactions, knowing that all of our hard work has lead to this moment.

Why do you like working with weddings? All of my brides and grooms are so different and in working with them, I make sure to do different things for them. I am definitely not “cookie cutter,” and I want to ensure that their day is different from that of their friends as much as possible. What is the most difficult situation you have faced with a bride and how did you resolve it? A specialty linen was back ordered from China. From a vendor’s perspective, what is the one best piece of advice you can offer to engaged couples? I always suggest to plan for the worst. Use your maximum count of guests that you have invited. This way, as they get closer, there are no surprises. It is ALWAYS easier to subtract from the order knowing they had it reserved in the first place. How far in advance should couples book your services? Shenandoah Rentals, owned by Beau Morgan and Jarrett Christiansen, specializes in weddings and festivals. “Basically, we noticed there was a need for a rental company in the valley, came across a really good deal on some stuff and it just kind of worked out,” said Morgan. Since opening, Shenandoah Rentals’ Facebook page has garnered more than 500 likes in less than three weeks of operation. “We’ve actually had a really good response,” said Morgan. “We’ve only been open for about two weeks and I’ve already had like 15 people hit us up about renting.”

Christiansen added,  “Within like seven days of being open, we got our first deposit and we’ve got at least eight other people on the market that will use us.” The men behind Shenandoah Rentals hope not only for short-term success, but also have loftier goals when it comes to their business. They operate primarily as a home-based business, but they aim to open a showroom-type space in the future. “We’re trying to make it like a family Mecca, I guess, down at the wedding venue,” said Morgan. “We’re going to be able to provide the tents, tables and chairs. My wife’s an interior designer and wedding designer and my mother has the [Belgravia Manor] venue.” “We got our stuff from West Virginia, carted like an hour and a half with a crazy delivery fee, and with my mother and wife now doing this wedding venue, so we thought we’re going to need tents, tables and chairs all the time,” said Morgan. “Jarrett’s a genius and said ‘hey, let’s buy some tents, tables and chairs.
