"We fondly anticipate the second half of the season filled with surprising twists and turns that make Nashville so beloved by the fans," says Herskovitz. The showrunner, however, refused to give more details about the characters that Bilson and Doubleday will portray on the second half of season 5. Meanwhile, the midseason finale of "Nashville's" fifth installment was an emotional one. Rayna's husband, Deacon (Charles Esten), and their daughters Maddie (Lennon Stella) and Daphne (Maisy Stella) are in deep grief.

Rayna's friends from her record label, Highway 65, are also mourning her death, and they have all come together to finish the deceased artist's final album. In other news, Scarlett (Clare Bowen) drops a huge bomb in the midseason finale - she is pregnant and she is unsure who the father is. This she told Gunnar (Sam Palladio), her on-and-off boyfriend, who she also cheated on with a music video director at some point. Maddie, on the other hand, got a bit of celebrity attention when she cried during her mom's tribute.
