Exploring the great outdoors can be difficult when you have limited mobility. Many state parks offer some accessible features. These include trails, campsites, restrooms or exhibits. Keep in mind that nature can play havoc with accessible facilities outdoors. Floods carve gullies in trails, drought leaves fishing piers and boat launches high and dry, and winds down tree limbs that block paths. Even wild critters can damage accessible facilities. Always call a park before you visit to ask about its accessible features. Call the reservation center to request an accessible campsite (1-800-389-8900).Volunteer - Wheelchair Ramp Build (Texas Ramp Project) Build Location,7103 Loch Lommond Street,Austin ****Ok, I'm sorry about the late change (and that will be addressed with TRP), but a new ramp request jumped to the top of the list: 7103 Loch Lommond St. The recipient has been recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Weaknesses in his mobility has restricted him to a walker for any movement in his home and he is unable to use the stairs safely anymore.

The ramp is being installed in the back because, paraphrasing the recipient's words, he wishes to use the backyard (his favorite spot) while he still has time.**** There's no experience necessary (seriously, lol); jump in wherever you feel comfortable or you can learn to use different tools along the way. The project location will be in the Austin city area. About a week prior to the project date, the exact location will updated in this event. Work gloves and shoes appropriate to working in a construction environment are encouraged. Please refrain from wearing open-toed shoes/sandals. Though some water will be provided, feel free to bring your own water/snacks or lunch as we'll be out building for a few hours. Main entrance doors have automated mechanical service. Dell Hall and other venues inside have elevators that service all levels of the facility. Courtesy wheelchairs are available by calling in advance. It is strongly recommended that patrons who do not normally use a wheelchair bring a companion to assist them in maneuvering around the Long Center public areas. The drop-off area for mobility impaired guests is directly in front of the Long Center in the Keller Williams Circular Drive. Mobility Impaired Parking is available on all levels of the Palmer Event Center Garage near the elevators. Also, Valet Parking is available for most events and performances at the Long Center. The accessible entrance to the Long Center is on the ground floor to the left of the Grand Staircase. Elevators are located just inside through the Rollins Studio Theatre Lobby. Infrared ALDs are available at most performances. They are provided free of charge upon request from a House Manager at every performance.
