Call them reading chairs, lounge chairs or big armchairs, they are great if you don't have enough room for a sofa, and wonderful as a focal point in a living room. The chairs here are all classics and most of the prices high, but you only need one and you'll have it for the rest of your life. The Snooze, up top, is an old fave of mine, with an exaggerated low seat and high back. It comes in leather or soft velvety fabric. Womb Chair & Ottoman - $4,552 From Eero Saarinen in 1948, this modern classic sits alongside the Eames Lounger with a far svelter design. "With its polished chrome base and a frame upholstered in fabric over a fiberglass shell, the Womb chair is designed to facilitate a relaxed sitting posture, providing emotional comfort and a sense of security - hence the name "Womb.""
Strandmom Chair - $279 Originally designed and sold in the early 50's, the Strandmon was brought back recently with a slightly updated look and covered in a lovely, velvet fabric. It also has an ottoman for $79. This is my budget pick. (Image credit: Herman Miller) Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman - $4,859 Perhaps the Eames'es most famous design, the lounger and ottoman took years to design and first appeared in 1956. cheap lounge chairs melbourneWhile most of their furniture was meant to be mass produced and affordable, the lounger was not. where to buy dining chairs perthIt was their first luxury item and Charles' vision was for a chair with "the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt."cheap wheelchair tires
(Image credit: Pottery Barn) Manhattan Leather Club Chair - $1,499 A PB classic for many years, I remember buying this for a client in the early 2000's when they were HOT. The club chair design is an iconic 30's design, and there are many versions and manufacturers, but this is a great one for the price. It comes in four different leather colors.bean bag chair australia (Image credit: Maxwell Ryan)buy wheelchair taxi Karuselli Lounge Chair - $6,099theatre chairs price in india From Finland in 1964, this showstopper was designed by Yrjo Kukkapuro for Artek and is still in production. ikea high chair support cushionFuturistic, with the air of a spaceship pilot seat, "the lounge chair and ottoman feature a white fiberglass shell and base with chromed steel accents and offered in your choice of white or black leather upholstery."chair leg caps square
Churchill Upholstered Chair - $1,440 RH's interpretation of a classic English club chair, it is typically generous, deep and low - a sort of relaxed American version of the original design. I particularly like the padded wings for napping. Comes in fabric and leather. (Image credit: Fritz Hansen) The Egg Chair - $8,055 Designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958, the Egg is definitely genetically related to the Womb. hair salon chairs to rentWhile originally intended for a public space, the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, I've seen this chair fit in wonderfully well in homes. "The Egg sprang from a new technique, which Jacobsen was the first to use; a strong foam inner shell underneath the upholstery. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen strove to find the shell’s perfect shape in clay at home in his own garage." The chair is perfectly balanced and affords a bit more privacy than all the others. Raffles Armchair - £2,534
Designed by Vico Magistretti for De Padova, this is an Italian interpretation of an English roll arm chair, and it is my personal favorite. I've never been more jealous of a client than when I got to buy two of these at once for a bachelor's home. The standard fabric is linen, the cushion is goose down and the feet are wood with casters on the front. I love Cisco Brothers and this is one of their best chairs. I snapped the pic in Highpoint, NC a few years ago, loving the deep midnight blue linen and slipcover design. Cisco is a quiet brand, but they are available in California and New York.7 Modern Classics that are Great for Small Spaces (Image credit: Abigail Ahern) So it might be a bit of a stretch to fit an Eames lounge chair into your 200 square foot studio apartment, but that doesn't mean you have to save the beautiful, iconic pieces for that time in the distant future when you can afford a mansion. There are quite a few modern designs that are a great fit for small spaces — and the good news is that some of these apartment-friendly pieces come with renter-friendly pricetags, too.

The Eames hang it all is a fantastic little workhorse: holds all your stuff, looks great doing it. Ideal for creating a place to stash things like hats and coats in an apartment with no entryway to speak of. You'll have to wait until you have a country estate to fit in one of those. The side tables, on the other hand, are nice and small and super versatile — put one by your bed or by the couch or wherever you need a spot to stash things. The smaller size (16.5" in diameter) will fit practically anywhere, and the pedestal, in lieu of legs, reduces visual clutter.

Design and price your own String system on the String website. Lauren's Idyllic Home in Silver Lake (Image credit: Monica Wang) 4. The Eames LTR The Eames LTR, or Low Table Rod, is a stylish side table whose diminutive size (15 x 13 x 10 inches high) makes it perfect for small spaces. Move it around the room to hold drinks or books when you need it, and tuck it under a coffee table (or even stack multiples!) when you don't. Also makes a good stepstool in a pinch.
