Hip Dysplasia Baby shared a photo. to Hip Dysplasia Baby Helensburgh, United Kingdom Thought I would share this picture of the maxi-cosi opal HD specially designed for babies in braces/spica/broomstick casts with hip dysplasia. This is what my d... aughter had after having open reduction surgery and being in a spica. The sides are nearly completely flat at the bottom to accommodate the wide set legs. Also comes with an insert because having a gap behind the child's back is a very common problem when the child has been put into a comfortable position. The sides at the top are adjustable using the grey wheel and the head support is also adjustable. We hired this carseat through maxi-cosi in the UK. (More pictures in comments.) My 3 year old daughter was just diagnosed with bilateral DDH yesterday. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed as my husband and I research the surger... y. She will need open reduction with femoral osteoectomy should we choose surgery. I'm just looking for some support and possibly other parents of children who weren't diagnosed until much later. We understand the complications become greater after 4 years, and the pediatric orthodothic surgeon informed me he doesn't even consider treatment options after 6 years so we are feeling the pressure to act quickly.

Any advice, stories, or helpful resources would be greatly appreciated. I am currently struggling most with the guilt of not discovering this sooner and also wondering how we are going to explain and prepare a very intelligient and vocal 3 year old for surgery and life in a spica cast and braces.

tents and chairs to rentI had been complaining to our pediatrician before he was a year old bc there just wasn't something quite right a... bout how he would stand but my concerns were brushed off bc I was a "new mom." Greysen had his first surgery in Sept 2012 (picture below), opposite hip was done in Oct 2012 (green cast in comments) and he needed to have his cast adjusted in November so it kinda looked like shorts (it was a red cast but I couldn't find a picture). Today (handsome thing in the comments) my sweet boy is 6 years old and always on the go, go, go. He LOVES soccer and baseball. He may not be the fastest on the team but he always tries his hardest. This was possibly one the scariest, saddest and happiest times in my life.

To watch my baby struggle in this huge cast and ache to do things all other 1 year olds did then to be so excited when that last cast came off to see my boy learn to sit up and walk again. Kids truly are resilient!! Hip Dysplasia Baby shared Felicia Spencer's post. Felicia Spencer to Hip Dysplasia Baby So just found out my 6 month old has hip dysplasia and will be in a spica cast here in a couple of weeks . I know bean bags chairs and a hair dryer with the cool setting is a must. What other items should I have ready and some tips/tricks? to Hip Dysplasia Baby Kildare, Ireland Hi all. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a buggy/stroller that accommodates a brace. My little girl is 21 weeks old and is now in the medium brace and jus... t doesn't fit in anything we have...buggy, pram, stroller, bouncer...we don't know how long she will be in it for until her next X-ray at the end of April but I expect she will still be in it for a while longer jut maybe not for 23hrs a day if we're lucky.
